Dry Ice Blasting

Dry Ice Blasting is an innovative, environmentally friendly and powerful cleaning solution that saves you time and reduces costs. Dry ice pellets are accelerated in a pressurised air stream and directed at a surface to clean it, and the secondary waste simply disappears – eliminating any further disposal costs.

Did you know?
- Dry ice pellets are propelled out of a gun at high speed, hitting the contaminated surface. The pellets then break into the rifts of the contamination where they explode – increasing their volume by about 700 times.
- The low temperature (-79°C) of the dry ice pellets creates a microthermal shock which cracks the contamination on the surface. The warmer the surface, the better the result.
- The pellets disappear as CO2 gas into the atmosphere immediately after hitting the surface – eliminating any further disposal costs.
Benefits

COST EFFECTIVE
Because no waste is produced that needs to be disposed of, on-site labour costs are reduced.

FAST
For machinery and plant cleaning, dry ice blasting can reach inaccessible areas without dismantling any parts – enabling faster recovery of production activity.

DRY
Suitable for cleaning delicate surfaces in environments that need to maintain constant cold temperatures, and for materials which need to avoid contact with water or other liquids.

NON-ABRASIVE
Dry Ice Blasting doesn’t damage the surfaces on which it’s acting.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
No chemical agents are used and no waste is produced – unlike traditional blasting materials which become contaminated when used to clean hazardous substances & objects, and are then classified as toxic waste and require appropriate safe disposal.

DISINFECTANT
The extremely low temperature of dry ice cleans a surface by killing all germs and bacteria at the same time.

NON-CONDUCTIVE
Dry ice blasting can be used safely on electrical components while they are still operational.

ODOUR CONTROL
Odours are typically undetectable within 24 hours of cleaning, especially after fire damage.
